Eat, drink, and be merry

We’re taking it easy this week due to the holiday, so only one rec: The Thinking Game, a documentary about Demis Hassabis and the DeepMind team trying to creating artificial general intelligence. This involves playing a lot of Starcraft.

I came away with two thoughts:

1. Google got a generational deal buying this company for just $400 million.

2. If (when?) someone builds AGI (whatever that means), perhaps we should hope it’s Hassabis and co. They certainly seem like responsible stewards.
